Our Creative Director Dan picks a random track, our guest adds a track that they think of in response and explains the link, then they go back and forth for 10 tracks.

Our first guest is the super talented producer/writer/artist James Yuill, currently releasing music under the moniker cable tv.

Track 1 - Skipworth & Turner "Thinking About Your Love"

DD: Kicking off proceedings with some hooky mid-80s soul.

Track 2 - Aurra "Keep Doing It Right"

JY: Firstly, there's a male vocal and a female vocal, but also that piano immediately made me think of this track.

Track 3 - Chilly Gonzales "You Can Dance"

DD: For the similar use of the repeated high note on the beat.

Track 4 - MSTRKRFT "Easy Love"

JY: Okay. There are so many great MSTRKRFT tracks from their first album, but this one has cowbell/woodblock work and vocodered vocals like that Chilly Gonzales track.

Track 5 - Felix Da Housecat "Neon Human"

DD: I first thought of Mustapha Dance by The Clash which is an instrumental version of Rock the Casbah with a long percussive intro but it's not on Spotify, so I picked Felix Da Housecat Neon Human because of the synths.

Track 6 - Jackson And His Computer Band "MOTO"

JY: Okay that one's easy! Check it.

Track 7 - Clark "Ted"

DD: I found myself singing the intro to Chaka Khan I Feel For You, then Windowlicker, but went for another Warp track, Clark Ted for the growliness.

Track 8 - Wax Stag "Folk Rock - Bibio Remix"

JY: So Clark is Bristol-based as is Bibio... Here's Bibio's remix of Wax Stag's Folk Rock that always blows my  mind.

Track 9 - Detektivbyrån - "Nattöppet"

DD: So many bits to that track to link from but the first thing it made me think of was Nattoppet by Detektivbyran for the chimes.

Track 10 - Brandt Brauer Frick - "Bop"

JY: There you go. Organic house! Brandt Brauer Frick. For the percussion mainly. I was going to go for a Matthew Herbert track off Scale but I recently heard this one so that swayed me.

Huge thanks to James for his time and some great tracks. The new cable tv single "Caught Up" is out now. Check out the Youtube and Spotify links below.
